These Babst Calland Clements & Zomnir lawyers were named by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers magazine among the top lawyers in Pennsylvania for 2009: Chester R. Babst III, Steven F. Baicker-McKee, Donald C. Bluedorn II, Dean A. Calland, Kevin J. Garber, Lindsay P. Howard and Joseph K. Reinhart. Sally Griffith Cimini and Maureen P. Kelly were honored for employment and labor; Norman E. Gilkey for bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights; Marcia L. Grimes for real estate; D. Matthew Jameson III and David E. White for construction litigation; Blaine A. Lucas for government, cities, municipalities; Mark D. Shepard for general litigation; and Ted Wesolowski for business/corporate. Ms. Cimini also was named by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers as one of Pennsylvania's "Top 50 Female" Super Lawyers and, along with Mr. Gilkey, as one of the "Top 50" Pittsburgh Super Lawyers.

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott were recognized in the 2009 edition of the Legal 500 United States for its performance for clients in the areas of bankruptcy and mergers and acquisitions. The Legal 500, which analyzes and rates firms across more than 100 countries, ranks the top law firms in six major categories of legal practice and in specific geographic regions throughout the United States.

Tucker Arensberg said these lawyers were named to the list of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for 2009 by Philadelphia Magazine and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers magazine: W. Theodore Brooks, real estate; Michael A. Cassidy, health care; Neil E. Hendershot, estate planning and probate; Kenneth W. Lee, construction/surety; Jeffery J. Leech, general litigation; Beverly Weiss Manne, bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights; Robert L. McTiernan, employment and labor; William H. Powderly, employee benefit/ERISA; Lee C. Swartz, personal injury plaintiff; Richard B. Tucker III, appellate law; and Homer L. Walton, employment and labor.

During the Spina Bifida Association of Western Pennsylvania's Annual Summer Festival, these people were honored by the state for their years of service to individuals and families of those with Spina Bifida: Wayne Martin, 19 years of service; Jody Ahern, 17 years; Christina Reppermund, 16 years; Rebecca Crim, 13 years; and Melissa McCarrell, Leanne Rader and Kathy Patton, each with 10 years of service.

Dr. Lewis Kuller, distinguished professor of public health and professor of epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, was designated a 2009 American Heart Association Distinguished Scientist for major contributions to cardiovascular disease and stroke research.

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC said these wealth management advisers were named 2009 FIVE STAR: Best in Client Satisfactions, according to the July 2009 issue of Pittsburgh Magazine: Richard G. Crist, senior vice president/investments; Abraham Moosa, financial consultant; J. Andrew Wolfinger, first vice president/investments, Pittsburgh office; Donald F. Detts Jr., vice president; and V. Richard Evans, vice president/investments, McMurray office; Charles R. Johnson, senior vice president/investments; Richard Reynolds, senior vice president/wealth management, assistant branch manager; Peter F. Schlicht, financial consultant; and Douglas W. Stirling, executive vice president/wealth management, Wexford office.

Soroptimist International of Pittsburgh has named POWER (Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery) recipient of its Mission Award. This cash award is presented annually to a nonprofit that exemplifies the Soroptimist mission "to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and around the world." Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women with close to 95,000 members in more than 100 countries.

Heritage Place, a UPMC Senior Community, was awarded activity department of the year for 2009 by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals. The award recognizes excellence in the delivery of activities services to the elderly population.

Prudential Financial Inc. said Nikolas Kamarados, financial planner, was authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to use the Certified Financial Planner certification mark, after meeting rigorous experience and ethical requirements, completing financial planning course work, and passing a certification examination.

Mayda Roth, director of development of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, earned the CFRE certification from the board of CFRE International. The professional fund-raising certificate provides third-party endorsement of knowledge and experience against international standards of philanthropy.
