An Altoona motorist who lost control of his vehicle while driving Tuesday on Route 22 in Blair County was killed when he was ejected from the tumbling car.

Richard Caram, 70, was flown to Altoona Hospital, where he died, state police said.

Mr. Caram was driving east in Allegheny Township when his Toyota Celica left the road while rounding a bend.

The car veered into the grassy median as Mr. Caram fought to regain control, police said.

The car struck a raised drainage grate and flipped into the air. The car bounced off the ground as it continued to roll, ejecting Mr. Caram in the process.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.
