Where: Monongahela, for the Aquatorium's 40th anniversary celebration, today through Sunday.
How far: About 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh in Washington County.

What for: Monongahela's trademark Noble J. Dick Aquatorium -- a riverside venue for outdoor concerts, festivals, fireworks and other special events -- turns 40 years old this year, and the city is celebrating with a giant party. Tonight at 7:30 at National City Bank, there will be an old-fashioned slide show with images of Monongahela dating from the Civil War through 1969. Suggested donation is $5 and it includes free popcorn and lemonade. Starting at noon tomorrow, the Aquatorium will host a variety of programs, including music by the Ringgold High School Band, food vendors and a live performance of the folk song "Monongahela Sal." At noon Sunday, there will be a wedding in Chess Park with the infamous "Ladies of the Mon" calendar girls serving as bridesmaids.
Throughout the weekend, vintage pictures and other memorabilia will be displayed and available for purchase at Jim McCune's Monongahela Ford showroom at 210 Fourth St., which will serve as a welcome center.
Fun factor: 6, if you love history or just want to have some old-fashioned fun.
