Celebrations Spotlight: Brooke Rinier and Greg Fornalczyk
Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Brooke Rinier and Greg Fornalczyk, both 30, wed on May 16, 2009. They now reside in Reserve Township.

Q: How did you meet?

Brooke: Greg and I actually met on Match.com. It was hard to miss his handsome photos (he resembles Nick Lachey) and witty profile. I just had to send him a wink. About a day later, Greg winked back at me. We then proceeded to e-mail each other on a daily basis and found out we had a ton in common. A few weeks later, Greg asked me out on our first date to the Coal Hill Steakhouse in Mt. Washington. I was so nervous I arrived almost two hours early. I was quite pleased when I met him and the conversation was amazing -- we sat and talked forever. The poor guy just had Lasik eye surgery so his eyes were really bloodshot, but that didn't mask his amazing charm! Needless to say, the date was fantastic and the rest is history!

Q: Where did you each grow up?

Brooke: I grew up in Jeannette and Greg grew up in Erie.

Q: Who proposed? How?

Brooke: Greg popped the question on one of the most beautiful Easter mornings I can remember. The night before he was acting really strange, but I didn't think much of it. The next morning, we had an egg hunt and I was to find my eggs last. After what I thought was the last egg, Greg told me there was one more. So he led me into my spare bedroom and I immediately spotted the huge purple egg which my favorite Snoopy stuffed animal was holding. As I opened the egg trembling, Greg got on his knee and proceeded to say wonderful things to me which I never heard because I was crying and screaming so loudly! The funniest thing was that I ended up getting on my knee, too! I didn't answer him when he first asked me because I was so ecstatic so he had to ask me a second time if I would marry him.

Q: Where were you married? Why did you choose that site?

Brooke: Greg and I were married at Ascension Catholic Church in Jeannette. I grew up attending the church and we both felt it was the best place for our ceremony.

Q: Where's the reception and honeymoon? Why did you choose those sites?

Brooke: Our reception was held at Giannilli's II in Greensburg. We wanted to have an Italian-themed wedding and Giannilli's fit the bill. We honeymooned at the Secrets Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. We had amazing service, excellent food, a beautiful pool and the beach was something out of a dream. We went on a catamaran to Playa Del Carmen to do some snorkeling which was so much fun!

Q: What was the best part? The worst?

Brooke: The best part of our wedding day was sharing it with the people we love and care for the most. The limo ride was pretty crazy, too. We had 16 people packed into an Excursion limousine and did some major partying. The worst part had to be when the music stopped playing and our guests started to leave. The day went by too fast.

Q: Who came the farthest?

Brooke: My two relatives from California traveled the farthest. It was so wonderful to see them and it was an honor having them at our wedding.

Q: Who was your favorite wedding vendor? Why?

Brooke: We loved all of our vendors, but my favorite would have to be our limo driver from Sky Limousine Service. He was very professional and went above and beyond our expectations to make our day even more special. When the rain came down during our outside pictures, he walked around with us holding an umbrella over us the entire time. He even drove us to an alternative location in Ligonier almost an hour away to get more pictures. When we pulled into town, the clouds parted and gave way to brilliant sun and blue skies . . . I cried!

Q: What's the most creative wedding present you were given?

Brooke: One of my relatives from California painted us the most beautiful picture of a Venice canal in Italy. She also framed and signed it for us.

Q: What's the best marriage advice you received

Brooke: Always set one night a week for "date night" to catch up with your spouse and plan something new and exciting each time. And, never go to bed angry.

Q: What is one item of your spouse's that you wish you could throw out?

Brooke: I would love to throw out Greg's X-Box 360 and I'm pretty sure Greg would like to get rid of my Snoopy/Peanuts collection.
