Women's basketball

Rebecca Lobo became the first Connecticut player inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, leading a class of six inductees. Lobo was joined in the Class of 2010 by Teresa Edwards, who won four Olympic gold medals for the United States; Teresa Weatherspoon, who led the New York Liberty to three WNBA finals; Chris Weller, a coach for 26 seasons at Maryland; Gloria Ray, the first women's athletic directory at Tennessee; and Leta Andrews, the winningest high school girls' basketball coach with more than 1,300 victories.

Tennis

American Sam Querrey defeated Frank Dancevic of Canada, 6-4, 6-4, to ensure an all-American final in the Indianapolis Tennis Championships. He will play Robby Ginepri, a 6-4, 6-3 winner against John Isner, in the final.

Wrestling

Five WPIAL wrestlers earned All-America status at the USA Wrestling Freestyle National Championships, which concluded yesterday in Fargo, N.D. Franklin Regional junior Nico Megaludis placed second at 119 pounds in the Junior Division, West Mifflin senior Sam Sherlock placed third at 130 pounds in the Junior Division, Latrobe sophomore Ty Lydic placed fifth at 135 in the Cadet Division, Burrell freshman Dakota DesLauriers placed seventh at 171 in the Cadet Division, and Plum junior Anthony DiLonardo placed sixth at 189 in the Cadet Division. Knoch senior Brittney Faust placed sixth at 124 pounds in the Women's Junior National Freestyle Championships also in Fargo.
