With just a little effort, you could see a dramatic improvement in your bike's mileage. Here are some tips to get you started:
Read your bike's manual and keep up with routine maintenance, like plugs and oil/air filters. If you don't have a manual, buy one.
Maintain correct tire pressure. Your bike's motor has to work doubly hard to move a machine with low tire pressure.
Keep your chain adjusted and lubed. If your bike is shaft driven, change the shaft oil when recommended
Use the manufacturer's suggested engine oil
Maintain your bike's cooling system properly. It's most often overlooked.
If you've done any modifications to your bike, like an aftermarket exhaust, be sure your bike is properly jetted.
Here's a tough one: Adjust your driving habits. Avoid quick starts and stops and shift at lower RPMs. It may be a challenge to change, but remember that Cycle World rider and his 23 percent!
