Howard W. "Hoddy" Hanna III has been elected chair of the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation Board of Trustees. His term runs through Dec. 31, 2010.

Mr. Hanna, a real estate executive, has been a member of the Foundation Board since its inception in July 2000. He also has been a member of the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Board of Trustees since 1993.

Mr. Hanna's involvement with Children's Hospital spans nearly two decades. Over that time, his company has held annual holiday luncheons that have raised millions of dollars in support of Children's Hospital's Free Care Fund.

His support extended to the hospital's new Lawrenceville building, which features the Howard Hanna Healing Garden, an outdoor, rooftop area.
