U.S. CONGRESS

HOUSE

The House voted 266-160 Thursday to approve HR2997, a budget bill that could make food stamps available to millions more people than have been receiving them as part of an agricultural funding bill for the next fiscal year. The bill now goes to the Senate.

SENATE

The Senate voted 84-6 Thursday to pass a homeland security funding measure, HR2892, after amending it to allow U.S. residents to begin ordering lower-cost prescription drugs from Canada over the Internet. The bill goes back to the House.
