James Falbo, the owner of Falbo Real Estate and Travel Agency in Coraopolis for more than 50 years, died Tuesday at Montefiore Hospital in Oakland of cardiac arrest. He was 85.

"He did everything for his family," said his daughter Elaine Gaydosh of Cranberry. "He never complained about anything. Even throughout his illness you never knew he was in pain. He was more concerned about his family and what was happening in our lives."

A self-made man, Mr. Falbo put himself through night school at Duquesne University, where he graduated with a degree in business administration in 1951. After graduation, he founded his real estate and travel agency, which he sold about 10 years ago when he retired.

"He was just a great businessman, and he loved working with people" Mrs. Gaydosh said. "Lots of people knew and loved him in Coraopolis."

Mr. Falbo was past president of Kiwanis Club of Coraopolis; lieutenant governor of Kiwanis for two years; national counselor for the Order of Italian Sons and Daughters of America; past president of Vance Fort Lodge No. 186 for more than 20 years; a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Falbo is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Falbo, and three other daughters, Sandra Swen of Moon; Linda Haines of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and MaryLouise Heurich of the North Hills; and a son, James Falbo of New Kensington.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Anthony J. Sanvito Inc. Funeral Home, 1316 Fourth Ave., Coraopolis. Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. tomorrow, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Margaret Mary Church at 10 a.m.
