Day care worker faces drug charges
Wednesday, July 08, 2009

A 19-year-old day care center employee in Pine stepped away from watching kids to sell marijuana in the parking lot, according to police.

Kelsey Rose Lansaw, of Franklin Park, was arrested Saturday, after the second of two occasions in which investigators claim she sold drugs to an undercover officer. The first, according to a criminal complaint, was in the parking lot of Forever Young day care center on Brooktree Road on June 26.

Coraopolis Detective Jason Stewart, working undercover and in conjunction with the Allegheny County District Attorney Narcotics Enforcement Team, wrote in the complaint that he received a call from Ms. Lansaw about a marijuana purchase, and they arranged to meet at her workplace.

According to the complaint, Ms. Lansaw directed Detective Stewart to Forever Young, where he saw her playing outside with several young children. Ms. Lansaw left the kids and got into Detective Stewart's vehicle -- saying she didn't want her boss to see -- and removed a baggie of marijuana from her bra and handed it over for $60, the detective wrote in the complaint.

On Saturday, Detective Stewart met Ms. Lansaw again at a CITGO gas station in Coraopolis to purchase Ecstasy. She had a passenger in her black Mercedes, later identified as Paris Lundy, 22, of Homestead.

Detective Stewart wrote in the complaint that he got the Ecstasy from Ms. Lansaw and gave $750 to Mr. Lundy.

After making the transaction, Detective Stewart called in other officers to make the arrest.

Ms. Lansaw was charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two counts each of drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and criminal use of a communication facility and one count of criminal conspiracy. Mr. Lundy was charged with conspiracy, delivery, possession with intent and possession.

Ms. Lansaw and Mr. Lundy were released on non-monetary bail and are scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Mary P. Murray in Coraopolis on July 14.

The director of Forever Young is named Debbie Lansaw; her family relationship to the drug suspect is unclear.

A woman who answered the phone at the day care yesterday and identified herself only as "Debbie," said Kelsey Lansaw "is on leave right now until we can get this mess straightened out."
