Tuesday, July 07, 2009

A man suffered severe burns in a crash this morning that required state police to close the southbound lanes of Interstate 79 in Slippery Rock.

The accident was reported at 9:20 a.m. at mile marker 106 on I-79 South, police said.

The vehicle caught fire after a collision, and the operator had to be extricated.

Police ordered the road closed to allow a medical helicopter to land, and to clear debris from the wreckage.

The highway reopened at 10:30 a.m.
