Woodland Hills defensive tackle Khaynin Mosley-Smith made a verbal commitment to the Panthers today.
Mosley-Smith had scholarship offers from Syracuse, West Virginia, Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Ohio.
"I had a family bond with Pitt's coaches that was stronger than any other team," Mosley-Smith said. "This is my home town, this is where I want to be and the coaches made me feel special and let me know that they really wanted me to be here. I'm proud to be at Pitt."
Mosley-Smith (6-feet-1, 275) is an athletic player with a lot of potential. He bench presses 340 pounds, squats 565 pounds and he ran the 40 yard dash in just under 4.9 seconds at a recent scouting combine. He had a number of other schools interested in him but he said the time was right to become a Panther.
"I would have gotten more offers, there were a lot of teams just starting to get involved and get interested, like Michigan," Mosley-Smith said. "But Pitt was the first one to really come after me hard and like I said, they let me know that they really wanted me to be there."
