Bountiful Rosboroughs clan plans its 100th reunion
Family continues picnic tradition
Thursday, July 02, 2009

The Rosboroughs, a family with roots in Washington and other southwestern Pennsylvania counties, will celebrate its 100th reunion Saturday with a day full of events.

More than 140 relatives from around the country are expected to attend the celebration at Pavilion 16, Cedar Creek Park, Rostraver, Westmoreland County, beginning at 11 a.m.

There will be food, softball, horseshoe pitching, kids games, senior stories, prizes, photos, and more.

The annual reunions began in Blairsville, Indiana County, where William Addison Rosborough and his wife, Martha Willetta Munshower Rosborough, raised their 10 children.

The location of the reunion has changed over the years, but not the date -- July 4.

This year, the family expects its biggest crowd ever, with many members now living in the Mon Valley and surrounding communities.

The Rosborough name is well known in Donora, where several Rosborough descendents raised their families.

Special pre-reunion festivities kicked off Tuesday with an historic Blairsville family tour, followed by a Pittsburgh sight-seeing day and Pirates game yesterday, and Rosborough Day at Kennywood Park today.

On Saturday, the 14th annual Rosborough Ramble Golf Open at 7 a.m. at Cedar Brook Golf Course will precede the 100th reunion.
