The Duquesne City School District's board of control unanimously approved its 2009-2010 budget last night, with no increase in property taxes for at least the 10th consecutive year. Millage rate is 21.1.
The budget of $16,462,956 increased by about nine percent over last year, due to an infusion of one-time federal funding of roughly $1.3 million.
This stimulus money must go toward new projects. Duquesne tentatively has part of the funds earmarked for new roofing, an improved sound system in the school building's auditorium, plus the "Success for All" program.
