An Indiana County man was killed in a one-vehicle crash last night in Green Township, state police said.
Indiana County Coroner Michael A. Baker said investigators still are working to determine which of the two occupants of the pickup truck had been the driver.
However, state police said Jody Ferrier, 35, of Commodore, had been driving, and he suffered fatal injuries when he was ejected from the vehicle after it crashed at 7:47 p.m. on Fir Road in Green Township.
The other occupant, Judy McCombs, also of Commodore, suffered minor injuries, the coroner said.
The truck had been speeding on Fir Road as it approached Route 286, and the driver lost control.
The pickup crossed the road and struck a utility pole. It proceeded on and the passenger side slammed into a tree, causing it to spin and crash into two more poles on the driver's side.
Mr. Ferrier was thrown through the rear window of the truck.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:36 p.m., the coroner said. An autopsy will be conducted later today.
Ms. McCombs, whose age was not given, was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.
