A head-on collision of a small school bus and an SUV injured five people, including three children, on Route 51 this afternoon.

The crash occurred near Bausman Street, a short distance from the Liberty Tunnels, around 3:10 p.m.

The bus was carrying special needs students under contract with city schools.

Traffic was halted as paramedics removed the injured from the wreckage.

Earlier today, injuries resulted from a three-car collision not far from that location that also tied up traffic.
