A Pittsburgh man pleaded guilty today to the charge of assaulting federal officers.
Gary Stephany, 44, of 1912 Tiffany Street, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count deriving from a June 2008 incident, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.
Mr. Stephany was a fugitive wanted on arrest warrants for felony and misdemeanor charges out of Allegheny, Beaver and Washington counties. A U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Task Force investigation led officers to believe Mr. Stephany was at the address on Tiffany Street in Brighton Heights.
Ten officers waited at the residence to arrest Mr. Stephany on June 17, 2008, but when he arrived, he reversed his vehicle and fled from the officers. Two task force members parked a marshal vehicle in his path, but Mr. Stephany drove into the vehicle.
The crash resulted in $3,390.90 in damage to the marshal vehicle.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 18.
