A Verona man was killed yesterday when a tri-axle dump truck he was driving fell down a 60-foot embankment on Toll Route 66 in Delmont.
The Westmoreland County coroner's office identified the driver as 68-year-old James E. Deem.
Mr. Deem was driving on Route 66, near mile-marker 12.4 at about 5 p.m. when the right front tire of his truck went flat, sending it down the embankment, where it rolled onto its side, state police said. Mr. Deem was taken to Westmoreland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m.
