Jon Minus Kate: Divorce Papers Filed
Tuesday, June 23, 2009

After months of speculation, the 10-year marriage of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" stars Kate and Jon Gosselin appears to be coming to an end.

Documents to initiate a legal split were filed at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown, Pa., yesterday afternoon, People.com reported.

Fans who have watched the couple's popular TLC show -- or read the voluminous coverage of the Gosselin marriage in the press -- will hardly be surprised: The duo had long maintained a tense relationship, with Jon recently telling People.com he wanted a less high-profile life, while Kate appeared to remain committed to their TV career.

In February, photos surfaced of Jon in the company of young women during a solo visit to see his mother, who was recuperating from surgery, in Huntingdon, Pa. The couple quickly attempted to quash rumors of problems. But in May, the scandal erupted again when 23-year-old Deanna Hummel was photographed driving Jon's car home from a bar late at night.

When the fifth season of the Gosselins' show premiered May 25, the couple admitted to having problems and not knowing where their relationship was headed. "Parents of multiples have triple the divorce rate," Kate said through tears. "I was thinking we were going to beat that. I don't know if I can say that anymore."

There also are reports that Jon is planning to move to New York. Sources say he is considering moving into Trump Place.

Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault on pop star Rihanna.

Brown entered his plea before a preliminary hearing was scheduled to start in Los Angeles yesterday.

Rihanna had been on standby to testify.

After Brown left the courtroom, Rihanna entered and was addressed by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg, who explained to the Barbados-born singer that she had issued a stay-away order, the Associated Press reports.

Rihanna had not been seeking a stay-away order, but the judge imposed one. The order requires that Brown and Rihanna stay at least 50 yards from each, except at industry events when the distance is reduced to 10 yards.

The judge also told Rihanna it's not a one-way order and she will be in violation if she gets closer to Brown than the order allows.

Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, said the plea deal includes five years of supervised probation and six months of community labor. Brown will be formally sentenced Aug. 5.

Schnegg accepted Brown's plea, but expressed some concerns because Brown is not a California resident. She said Brown likely will be allowed to do his community service in his home state of Virginia. He'll have to return to California for updates every three months. He'll also be required to attend domestic violence classes.

Ryan O'Neal says he plans to marry Farrah Fawcett, who is struggling to overcome cancer, the Associated Press reports.

The 68-year-old actor says in an interview with Barbara Walters for ABC's "20/20" that he asked his longtime companion to marry him and "she's agreed." O'Neal says they will tie the knot "as soon as she can say yes."

Walters' interview with O'Neal airs Friday.

Fawcett was diagnosed in 2006 with anal cancer that has spread to her liver. The "Charlie's Angels" star and O'Neal have a 24-year-old son, Redmond.

O'Neal says the 62-year-old actress is "fighting for her life," but despite her declining health, they will "absolutely" get married.

Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend, Camila Alves, are expecting another baby.

McConaughey announced the news in a posting on his Web site on Father's Day.

The 39-year-old actor and Alves have an 11-month-old son, Levi.

Writes McConaughey in the posting: "Camila and I are expecting our second child, bringing more life into the world, making more to live for. The future looks bright as the family grows..."
