Friday, June 19, 2009

Port Authority police are looking for a man wanted on numerous counts of robbery.

Kevin Parks, 37, works with at least two other accomplices and targets mostly the elderly and individuals with disabilities, spokesman Jim Ritchie said.

Mr. Parks and his accomplices allegedly create disruptions and then pickpocket riders on Port Authority buses. In other cases, they take money from purses. In many cases, they target people who use an ATM and board a bus. The incidents date back about two years.

The robbers have targeted individuals in areas including Downtown, West Mifflin, Squirrel Hill and the Century III Mall area. The routes they are known to use include the 46G, 51C, 61A and 71A.

Pittsburgh police also are interested in locating Mr. Parks, who frequents the city and Mount Oliver.

Mr. Parks indicated that he would turn himself in on Wednesday but failed to show. Port Authority police have filed warrants for his arrest and are investigating numerous other incidents with similar characteristics.

Police asked those with information to call 412-255-1385.
