Cyber school teachers vote to unionize
Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Teachers at the PA Learners Online Regional Cyber Charter School have voted to be represented by the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

According to PSEA President James Testerman, this is the first time a public cyber charter school faculty has voted to unionize in the U.S.

"We are proud to welcome the members of the PA Learners Online Association to PSEA's family of over 1,000 local affiliates," Mr. Testerman said in a prepared statement released today. "It is clear these public school employees desire the same voice in their working conditions as other school employees across the commonwealth."

The cyber school is managed by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and is open to any student in kindergarten through 12th grade who lives in Pennsylvania.
