Man sentenced for Braddock cocaine deal
Friday, June 12, 2009

A Westmoreland County man, indicted last year on cocaine trafficking charges, was sentenced yesterday to five years in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Roger Allen Moore, 30, of Greensburg, was busted after police in Braddock observed him in April 2008 receiving a half kilogram of cocaine from a known drug trafficker outside a bar at the corner of Sixth and Margaretta streets in Braddock.

Mr. Moore and dozens of other suspected drug traffickers had been targeted by a multijurisdictional task force that aimed to quell a spike in violent crime in and around Braddock.

Mr. Moore, indicted in October, was one of more than 50 suspects indicted through separate but related cases.

U.S. District Court Judge Joy Flowers Conti also ordered Mr. Moore to serve three years of supervised release after his incarceration.

The judge said Mr. Moore has prior convictions, including a five-year federal conviction for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
