Bridgeville receives state money to build library
Tuesday, June 09, 2009

Bridgeville council vice-president Nino Petrocelli Sr. said last night the borough has received the money from a $500,000 Keystone Grant to help construct a new 7,800-square-foot public library.

The new library will be four times larger than the present library on Station Street and will be built on 2 acres at 505 McMillan St.

Now that the grant money has been received, Mr. Petrocelli said he expects a groundbreaking ceremony can take place within 90 days.

"The clock is ticking. We should be able to put a shovel into the dirt by September," Mr. Petrocelli said.

The state grant will cover only a portion of the estimated $2 to $3 million construction cost, but Mr. Petrocelli said a capital fund-raising campaign will soon begin and he urged Bridgeville residents to be generous. No borough funds are being used for the new library building.
