A 14-year-old who was killed last night in a motorcycle accident has been identified as Adam G. Gemmell of Menden Road in Smithton, the Westmoreland County coroner said.
Adam had been riding an off-road motorcycle at about 7:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Wohl Lane in South Huntingdon when the accident occurred, the coroner said.
As he rode past a utility pole, he struck a guide wire that caused him to be ejected from the bike.
Though he was wearing a helmet and other protective gear, he died of his injuries at the scene at 9 p.m.
Coroner Kenneth A. Bacha said the boy died of trauma of the head and neck, and that no autopsy will be conducted.
State police in Belle Vernon are investigating the accident.
