Workers making progress to restore Bridgeville phone service
Thursday, June 04, 2009

Many of the more than 100 customers who lost telephone service last weekend have had their lines repaired in Bridgeville, but many still have not been connected, a Verizon spokesman said today.

A major cable connection sustained water damage over the weekend at an underground line junction at the corner of Lesnett and Mayview roads, Verizon spokesman Lee Gierczynski said.

Crews have been working steadily, except during rainy periods, to replace the damaged cable with a new line.

From there, each customer's phone line must be spliced individually into the new cables, he said.

Mr. Gierczynski gave no estimate on when all customers' phone service would be restored in the area.
