Clymer woman killed after coal truck strikes her vehicle
Thursday, June 04, 2009

A Clymer woman was killed yesterday when her Buick Regal was struck by a coal truck in White, Indiana County.

Eleanor Berezansky, 75, was heading west on Route 286 just east of Airport Road about 1 p.m. when the eastbound coal truck lost control while slowing to avoid hitting stopped cars in the lane ahead, county Coroner Michael Baker said.

The truck crossed the center line and struck Ms. Berezansky's car nearly head-on. The truck then spun around and came to rest next to Ms. Berezansky's Buick. Mr. Baker said the woman appeared to have died on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coal truck driver, whom state police have not identified, was uninjured in the crash.
