Beaver County woman charged with trying to poison husband

A Beaver County woman is charged with trying to poison her husband by serving him a drink laced with as many as 20 prescription pills.

Police in New Sewickley said the woman, Lisa J. Musgrave, served the drink to her husband, Daniel Musgrave, during an argument Friday night.

Mr. Musgrave, instead of drinking the solution, poured it into the kitchen sink. That is when he noticed the nearly dissolved pills in the bottom of the cup, police said.

Mrs. Musgrave was released Monday on $20,000 from the Beaver County Jail, where she had been held before she was arraigned on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and possession of controlled substances.

She is to appear at a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Monday before District Judge Edward Howe in Freedom.

Township police were called to the Musgraves' Brewer Road home Saturday by Mr. Musgrave, the day after the argument, according to a police affidavit.

He told police he and his wife had been arguing about her son when she made him a drink. The cup, containing residue of amphetamines and methamphetamines, was given to the officers.

Mr. Musgrave said he confronted his wife Saturday morning about the attempted poisoning, and she responded, "Too bad it didn't work," the affidavit said.

Mrs. Musgrave arrived at the residence while officers still were there.

Mrs. Musgrave agreed to accompany the officers to the police station, where she failed a field sobriety test before she became ill.

At one point she opened her purse and officers noticed a pill bottle containing over-the-counter pain medication as well as pills with the narcotics Tramadol and Vicodin.

The prescription pills belonged to Mr. Musgrave, police said in the affidavit.
