Taxpayers in Pine-Richland School District will not see their real estate millage rate of 20.2 mills change for the sixth year in a row, but some will see a reduced tax bill.
The school district will receive $1.2 million from the state Department of Education as a property tax reduction allocation funded by gambling tax funds. That translates into a tax cut of $212.11 for taxpayers if their property receives a homestead or farmstead exclusion. Pine-Richland School District has 5,865 approved homesteads but no farmsteads.
The Pine-Richland school board set the real estate tax rate at 20.2 mills last night when it voted unanimously to establish tax rates for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. The board established the rate for the earned income tax at 0.5 percent. For individuals 18 and older, the Act 511 per capita tax and the Pennsylvania School Code per capita tax were set at $5.
The school board also adopted the 2009 Homestead and Farmstead Exclusion Resolution to authorize a reduction in real estate tax assessments for approved homesteads and farmsteads for the school year beginning July 1.
