The Penn State football team has landed its fourth recruit from the WPIAL class of 2010.
Miles Dieffenbach, an offensive lineman at Fox Chapel High School who will be a senior in the fall, made a verbal commitment to Penn State while on a visit to the university yesterday. Dieffenbach is 6 feet 5, 285 pounds and is considered one of the top linemen in the WPIAL. He was recruited by Penn State to play either guard or center.
Dieffenbach said Pitt was his top choice until recently. Dieffenbach's father, George, has been the Pitt women's tennis coach for almost three decades. But Miles Dieffenbach also had scholarship offers from Virginia, Florida State, Boston College, Northwestern, Syracuse and South Florida.
Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley recruited Dieffenbach but didn't offer a scholarship until a few weeks ago. When Penn State offered, things changed. Dieffenbach visited Penn State with his father shortly thereafter. His mother, Emma, and father accompanied him for another visit yesterday. Miles Dieffenbach had been to two Penn State games last season.
The other three WPIAL players from the class of 2010 who have chosen Penn State are Canon-McMillan linebacker Mike Hull, Sto-Rox quarterback Paul Jones and Penn-Trafford offensive lineman Luke Graham.
