The extensive pay and remuneration statistics given in both columns by Len Boselovic (May 24) should be of interest to anybody who holds shares in the Fortunate 50 companies ("A Record 4 Women Make the List" and "More Light Shed on Pay Gets Mixed Reviews.")
It might be comforting to women that a record four women made the Fortunate 50 list, but no women have golden parachutes yet.
Since only three companies had positive one-year returns, you'd expect only three bonuses listed on page C-3, but there are only two. And one of those bonuses went to Murry S. Gerber of EQT, a company with a negative 35.8 percent one-year return.
The lack of bonuses for most negative one-year return companies is praiseworthy by stockholders like myself who think compensation committees are not doing their jobs.
I therefore vote against almost all compensation packages, especially those to retain personnel who participated in negative returns.
