A Cambria County man has been arrested on charges that he used his business -- Gary's Steals and Deals -- to sell stolen merchandise on the Internet.

Authorities said Gary Vaughn, 35, of Portage, owner of Gary's Steals and Deals in Cambria and Somerset counties, instructed others to steal items from retail businesses so he could market them on eBay, an auction Web site. He had been operating the business since June 2004, police said.

Martin C. Carlson, U.S. attorney for the Middle District of the state, said Mr. Vaughn was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering, mail and wire fraud, use of a fictitious name to receive mail, and criminal forfeiture.
