Serra captured the WPIAL Class A baseball title with a 7-1 victory against Carmichaels (18-3) today at Washington & Jefferson.

The Eagles sprung to a 4-0 lead after two innings off Carmichaels ace Joby Lapkowicz, and for Serra (20-2) it was the Girman brothers --- freshman Alain and junior Oliver --- who did the most damage.

In the first inning, Oliver Girman (who also earned the pitching win) hit a two-run inside-the-park home run. In the second inning, it was Alain who proved potent with the bat, driving in two runs with a double.

Lapkowicz struck out 14 Serra batters in the loss.
