Gary Lyle won the late-model feature at Lernerville Speedway Friday with a last-lap pass on Doug Horton. It had been more than 10 years since Lyle visited Victory Lane at Lernerville.

Lyle from Hyde Park had planned on retiring after the final race at Challenger Speedway near Indiana in October. But the 1998 Lernerville Late Model champion's plans for 2009 changed when he won a new Rocket Late Model in the Racers for Tots Raffle.

"I never won anything," the Hyde Park driver said. "Winning that car pumped everyone up, we were done racing. I bought two tickets to support Racers for Tots, I spent $20, and it changed everything."

Racers for Tots organizer Jim Stiegerwald recalled Lyle saying, "I am going to win this car this year; it's my color and number."

According to Stiegerwald, Lyle is not the first racer to win the Racers for Tots car and continue racing.

"Robbie Blair won the car the year before, and he won several races with the car, and this year we are raffling off another Rocket race car at the World Finals in Charlotte," Stiegerwald said.

Racers for Tots is a local charity that supports the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots campaign. Stiegerwald reports the organization has raised more than $500,000 in the past 10 years to provide toys for children.

Big Block Modified driver Kevin Bolland scored a hat trick with three wins in a row last weekend. The New Brighton racer won Friday at Lernerville, then continued his streak with BRP Mod Tour wins at Pittsburgh's Pa. Motor Speedway and Tri-City Speedway in Franklin.

Bolland will try to continue his BRP Mod Tour win streak today at Lernerville. Del Rougeux has a three-point lead over Dave Murdick going into the 7 p.m. start today at Lernerville.

Defending PPMS late model champion Jared Miley won the O'Reilly Late Star Late Model 50-lap feature at Central Pa. Speedway near Clearfield, Pa.
