A woman was attacked Sunday by a man who she said stole her car after she offered him a ride to a bus station in Butler County, police said.
Police were called by a witness who reported that a woman had just been carjacked at 5:34 p.m. Sunday at a Marathon gas station near the Butler Bridge and South Main Street.
The 44-year-old woman from East Butler said she picked up the suspect and, while driving across the bridge, he requested that she drive behind the gas station. She complied.
The man then choked her, threw her from the vehicle and drove away.
He was last seen traveling across the bridge in her red Dodge Intrepid.
The woman was not seriously injured, police said. She ran inside the gas station after the attack. Police did not release her identity.
The suspect is a short, stocky, white man with dark blond hair.
The Pennsylvania license plate on the Intrepid is GXV-2231.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the vehicle or the suspect is asked to call Butler police at 724-287-7743.
