It has been nearly 20 years since the previous Big Block Modified made laps around Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. That drought ends at 6 p.m. tomorrow when the BRP Mod Tour starts a record 32-car field in a 30-lap feature at Dirt's Monster Half-Mile near Imperial.
According to tour spokesman Lou Long, the typical starting field is 26 cars, but thanks to sponsorship from a local businessman, the starting field will be expanded in an attempt to bring more modifieds to PPMS.
Mod Tour driver Del Rougeuxis third in the BRP point standings and has never been on the dirt at PPMS.
Kevin Bolland missed the first BRP Tour race of the season at Mercer Raceway Park but likes his chances at PPMS.
"I've always liked the bigger tracks and I am looking forward to going there and doing very well. We're really good at going to a track we don't see often and adapting," Bolland said.
Also on the card at PPMS will be a 25-lap, $1,500 to-win feature for the Super Late Models plus the other weekly divisions will be in action.
