The past week: White, a senior midfielder on the Mt. Lebanon lacrosse team, scored a goal in a WPIAL Division I quarterfinal victory against Sewickley Academy.
Check this out: White (6 feet 2, 185 pounds) is one of the top players in Western Pennsylvania. This should tell you about his talent: He will play next season at Princeton, one of the perennial powers in NCAA lacrosse. He plans to major in premed. White, a four-year starter, has 30 goals and 19 assists this season. He also was a two-year starter on the football team.
Why Princeton? Obviously, the academics sells itself. My family has always kind of pushed academics first. Plus, Princeton has a long-standing history in lacrosse.
Why is Mt. Lebanon always so good in lacrosse? That's a really tough question, but I think a lot has to do with the coaches. I think we have an outstanding coaching staff that really puts a lot of time into the program.
How much hitting is there in lacrosse? Obviously a little less than football games, but I wake up the morning after a lacrosse game and I'm definitely stiff and sore.
What vehicle will you use for your prom? As of right now, I don't have a date. My girlfriend will probably be mad I said that, but it's the truth. A long story.
Can you change a tire on a car? I could, actually. I couldn't do it quickly, but I could do it.
People might be surprised to know that ... I was a very, very fat baby. I weighed something like 9 pounds, 15 ounces when I was born.

The past week: Bower won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs at the WPIAL Class AAA track championships and set a meet record in both.
Check this out: Bower has 12 WPIAL championships -- four in cross country and eight in track. She was the first girl to win four WPIAL cross country titles. But Bower has never won a PIAA title in either sport. She will try to get her first this weekend when she runs at the PIAA championship meet at Shippensburg University, but she has dropped out of the 3,200. Bower will run cross country and track next season at Penn State.
Is there one WPIAL title that is significant to you? I guess it would have to be the fourth one in cross country, just because it was the final one and no one had ever won four.
Why won't you run the 3,200 at the state meet? I have always run the mile [1,600] at states. That's the one I am most comfortable doing. I also had the mindset all year that I would only run the mile at states.
Do you feel any kind of void because you haven't won a PIAA title? I guess. I've won many awards that are very significant to me. I think a [PIAA title] would top it all off. This is my last shot, so I want to go for it and give all I can.
Do you have any different strategy for the PIAA meet this year than past years? I do. I've discussed it with our coach. I have to remember it while I'm out there running. We'll see if it works out.
Your most-visited Web site? Definitely penntrack.com. Plus, Facebook a lot. What kid doesn't go on Facebook?
Movie you could watch over and over? One that would never get old with me is Dumb and Dumber. I don't know why, but I love that movie.
People might be surprised to know that ... [I] used to take gymnastics.
