The Penguins today signed Todd Reirden to a multi-year contract as coach of their American Hockey League affiliate, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Reirden, 37, was promoted from Wilkes-Barre assistant to interim after Dan Bylsma was brought up to the Penguins in February following the firing of Michel Therrien. Wilkes-Barre was 14-9-3 under Reirden as interim coach and then beat Bridgeport in the first round of the AHL playoffs before falling to Hershey in the East Division final.
