Hazelwood man dies after shooting

A man died after being shot late last night in Hazelwood, Pittsburgh homicide detectives said.

Kevin Williams apparently made the 911 call around 11:50 p.m. afgter he had been mortally wounded, police Commander Thomas Stangrecki said today.

The fatal bullets had been fired through the door of his apartment in a building on Almeda Street.

Mr. Williams, who was also identified by the county medical examiner as Kevin Williamson, suffered wounds of the back and the hand, the commander said. He had been alone in the apartment at the time.

Police arrived and found Mr. Williams, 30, unresponsive and lying on the floor of his apartment. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian where he died at about 2 a.m.

No arrests have been made.

Emergency dispatchers sent police to the residence based on Mr. Williams' call. Operators could not clearly discern what he had reported, only that there was "unknown trouble" at that address.
