YWCA to present women with leadership awards

The YWCA will present its 27th annual Tribute to Women leadership awards to eight women at a lunch at the Westin Convention Center hotel today.

The awardees in various categories are:

Arts and culture: Deborah L. Acklin, executive vice president and general manager, WQED Multimedia.

Business and industry: Sally Wiggin, anchor, WTAE-TV.

Civic engagement: Valerie McDonald Roberts, manager, Allegheny County Department of Real Estate.

Community empowerment: Aggie Brose, deputy director, Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation.

Education: Olga M. Welch, professor and dean, Duquesne University.

Entrepreneur: Ellen A. Roth, president, Getting to the Point Inc.

Health and human services: Joyce Rothermel, chief executive officer, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Professional services: Sylvia Hill Fields, executive director, Eden Hall Foundation.

Peggy Finnegan, a co-anchor at WPXI and a former award winner, will serve as mistress of ceremonies at the lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m.
