A Shaler man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Route 28 tonight.

Robert McLaughlin, 73, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital after the crash, which happened at 6:22 p.m. He was pronounced dead at 7:11 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

State police in Kittanning are investigating the crash, which took place in the northbound lanes about a mile from the O'Hara Township exit.

State police did not comment on the crash.
