Maecenas XXV held at the Benedum Center
Tuesday, May 19, 2009

The stage was set, literally, for the return of Pittsburgh Opera's favorite son, former director Tito Capobianco, and his lovely wife, Gigi. Tables dressed in silver lame and candelabras adorned the stage at the Benedum Center Saturday night for Maecenas XXV, the silver anniversary. Dinner catered by the Duquesne Club and dancing was punctuated with operatic interludes by resident artists, but it was the evening's Renaissance Award-winner, mezzo-soprano Marianne Cornetti, whose performance had guests ready to "Climb Every Mountain." Nadine Bognar received the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. General director Christopher Hahn welcomed all, including past chairs Sandra Bettor, Ritchie Scaife and Gloria and Joe Valez. Current chairs Dr. Saundra and Bill Stout circulated with board chair Michele Fabrizi and board president Woody Turner with Mary.
