Pittsburgh Revolution / Steve Mellon
Mala Jaska, North Side
To explore, click and drag inside image

The Mala Jaska neighborhood was squeezed between Route 28 and a steep hillside that rises to Troy Hill. Behind some homes, concrete retaining walls were built, creating small, quiet spaces where residents could escape the noise of the busy road just outside their front doors. The few remaining buildings will be torn down to make way for a proposed widening of Route 28.
