Pittsburgh Revolution / Steve Mellon
Fort Pitt Steel Casting Co., McKeesport

This office at a plant that's been closed for a quarter of a century seems remarkably well preserved. Fort Pitt Steel Casting was formed in 1906 in what is now McKeesport's 11th ward. By the 1970s, however, the plant was foundering. In 1979, workers tried to save the plant through an employee stock-ownership plan, but history was working against all steel industries. Now the plant is an empty relic.
