Alt-country stalwarts Steve Earle, Son Volt and the Old 97s highlight Allegheny County's summer concert seasons at South Park and Hartwood Acres.
Along with such staples as the Pittsburgh Symphony, Pittsburgh Opera and Tamburitzans, the parks will play host to former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, Irish folk-rocker Luka Bloom, classic-rock band Foghat and the legendary R&B group Jr. Walker's All Star Band.
As already announced, the Pittsburgh Blues Festival with Los Lobos and Robert Cray takes place July 24-26, there's a shot of Mellon Jazz with Kevin Eubanks and Lao Tizer Band, and hometown favorites close the Hartwood season on Sept. 6.
All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise indicated). Admission is free, except for the Blues Fest, which benefits the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Root show, which benefits the county's Department of Human Services.
