A motorist was killed early today in a one-vehicle crash in Monroeville.
The name of the driver, a woman in her early 30's, has not been released, pending notification of relatives, police said.
She had been driving east in the 2800 block of Route 130, which is Broadway Boulevard, at 2:24 a.m. when she lost control of her 2007 cross-over vehicle.
The vehicle knocked down a utility pole before it rolled onto its side, Assistant Police Chief Doug Cole said.
The vehicle then skidded, roof-first, into the brick facade of the AOH Club. The roof was crushed, pinning the driver inside.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Assistant Chief Cole said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. The roadway also was wet, although the rain had stopped.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology test results to determine whether the woman was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, Mr. Cole said.
