A fire heavily damaged the idle Tatano Wire and Steel factory in Houston last evening and sent large clouds of smoke over the Washington County community.

No injuries were reported from the blaze, which was first reported at 6:17 p.m. The Houston Volunteer Fire Co. was joined by departments from Peters, Canonsburg, Chartiers and North Strabane in spending hours to extinguish the fire.

No information was available on the cause of the fire or the dollar value of the damage.
