Joining in the celebration were their three children Carl, Carla and Richard Jr. and five grandchildren Alessandra, Rico, Nicholas, Sara and Nino.

Mrs. Roberto, a graduate of Swissvale High School and Robert Morris Business School, retired from Westinghouse Productivity Center in 1994 and Igate Corporation in 2006. Their anniversary announcement ran in the Post-Gazette on Tuesday, April 28.

Q: How did you meet?

A: We met at the Copa Club in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Q: Who introduced you?

Richard: I approached Toni and started a conversation. The Copa was a nightclub with top entertainers. After the show was over, we went for a late dinner. The date was October 20, 1957.

Q: Where did you each grow up?

Toni: I grew up in Swissvale. Richard grew up in the Hill District.

Q: Who proposed?

Richard: I asked Toni's father for her hand in marriage and proposed on the front porch of her home.

Q: Where were you married? Why did you choose that site?

A: We were married at our parish church, Madonna del Costello Church in Swissvale.

Q: Where was the reception and honeymoon?

A: The reception was at the Grotto which, at that time, was on the North Side. We honeymooned in Miami.

Q: What is your favorite wedding memory?

A: Our favorite wedding memory is how absolutely beautiful the ceremony was.

Q: Are there any current wedding trends that you wish you could have incorporated?

A: At that time, it was not common to have a limo. We did, however, have a Cadillac.

Q: Do you still own any of your wedding gifts?

A: Yes, a set of carving knives that are still in their original box.

Q: What is the secret to your successful marriage?

A: It's not a secret. Marriage doesn't always run smoothly. You've got to work together during the ups and the downs.

Q: What activities do you enjoy doing most as a couple?

A: We enjoy going to the movies and visiting with friends.

Q: How did you celebrate your anniversary?

A: Our daughter, Carla, and our two sons, Carl and Richie, had a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for us. All of our children and grandchildren participated. We also had a renewal ceremony at Saints Simon and Jude Parish in Scott Township. A reception was held at the LeMont and this time, we had a limo.
