Turnpike gets bid to rebuild Allegheny, Butler section
Thursday, April 30, 2009

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has received an apparent low bid of $113.2 million for reconstruction of a 6.8-mile section of the turnpike in Allegheny and Butler counties.

Joseph B. Fay Co. of West Deer submitted the lowest of three bids yesterday. Continuing a trend seen statewide this year, it was well below the turnpike's estimated project cost of $135.9 million.

The project calls for complete reconstruction from mile 31 to mile 38, between the Warrendale and Butler Valley exits, including replacement of four bridges. Work is expected to begin later this year.
