Scott awards bids for municipal building expansion
Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Scott Commissioners last night voted 6-2 to award four contracts totaling $229,000 for the expansion of its municipal building on Lindsay Road.

The planned expansion will square off the back of the building, giving the township police department a secure entry and an interrogation/processing area in what is now the commissioners' meeting room.

The Scott Township Public Library, too, will gain some needed space, and the commissioners will get a new meeting room.

Voting against the bid awards were Commissioners James Walther and Jean O'Toole, with Mrs. O'Toole worrying about costs.

"I just don't think this is a good time to be spending that kind of money," she said.

The township had budgeted $223,000 this year for the expansion.

Scott Manager Denise Fitzgerald said construction would begin in about a month and last through the summer.
