Q: Where did you each grow up?
We both grew up in Greensburg.
Q: Who proposed? How?
Tim: It wasn't easy to win Allison over, but once I did, my next challenge was winning over her dog, Weasel. I successfully became a friend for life when I began taking Weasel and Allison for hikes in the Laurel Mountains. It only seemed fitting that this was also the spot of the proposal. On a spring day, Allison, Weasel and I went for a hike to a favorite picnicking spot, Beam's Rock. During the picnic Weasel brought the ring over, which had been dangerously swinging from his collar the entire hike, and I popped the question.
Q: Where were you married? Why did you choose that site?
Allison: We were married at First United Methodist Church in Greensburg. I've been a member there since childhood.
Q: Where was the reception and honeymoon? Why did you choose those sites?
About a month after our engagement, we went to an event at LeMont Restaurant on Mount Washington. Anyone who has been to LeMont knows that the view is absolutely unparalleled. We joked at the time that it would be the perfect place to have our wedding reception, which is exactly what we did eight months later.
We honeymooned in Kauai, Hawaii. It was the perfect combination of romance and adventure. We would highly recommend the helicopter tour.
Q: What was new, blue, borrowed at your wedding?
Allison: "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence in your shoe!" Tim was very confused by this saying, but we did manage to cover all categories. The "something new" were our gifts to each other: a pink gold watch for Tim and a custom-designed diamond necklace for me. As for something old, I had the privilege of wearing my mother's veil originally worn in 1976. Strangely enough, it matched my gown absolutely perfectly - with the signs of age, rips, tears and all. Since I gave the veil back afterward, it was also considered "borrowed." Tim's mother, Lucy, provided the sixpence, and as for something blue - we'll just say it was well hidden!!
Q: What was the funniest thing that happened?
Allison: Tim's uncle Bob was slated to have knee surgery the week after our wedding so he decided to really live it up at the reception. Out on the dance floor he treated us all to several exciting dance moves including the worm, or some variation of it. It was so entertaining that the band could possibly hold the record for the longest ad lib to "Shout" in the history of the song -- 10 minutes straight.
Q: Who was your favorite wedding vendor? Why?
Most definitely Bill from the LeMont. He went over and above to make sure that everything was fabulous.
Q: What's the most creative wedding present you were given?
Tim: During our reception, one of Allison's friends came over to mention that her gift had a meaning. When we opened it, we were to remember, "one for now, one for later." When we opened her gift we realized what she meant. There were two bottles of Grognet champagne. The message was to enjoy one as newlyweds, and to enjoy one later when all the music, excitement and craziness was over. We haven't had the second bottle yet.
Q: What is one item of your spouse's that you wish you could throw out?
Allison: Tim's cell phone. I jokingly refer to it as his "lifeline" because he is constantly emailing on it, texting on it and setting reminders. He even plays games on it in his spare time.
